WALLACE ENDS 2004 NASCAR BUSCH SERIES SEASON WITH 19TH PLACE HOMESTEAD FINISH AND 9TH IN POINTS

Kenny Wallace and his Bill Davis Racing, Stacker 2/Northeastern Supply Company sponsored race team ended its 2004 NASCAR Busch Series season at Homestead-Miami Speedway Saturday afternoon with a 19th place finish in the Ford 300.

Never a factor after starting the race in the 26th position, Wallace finished the 34th and final race of this season a lap down to the leaders but was able to earn a spot in the top 10 in the final driver’s championship points breakdown.

Kenny, who posted 10 top 10 finishes this season, finished ninth, 1,322 markers behind champion Martin Truex, Jr. who clinched the crown for Chance 2 Motorsports and Nextel Cup Series star Dale Earnhardt, Jr. last weekend.

Truex finished ninth in the ’04 season finale that was captured by Nextel Cup Series regular Kevin Harvick. Harvick edged Jamie McMurray and rookie Kyle Busch for the victory with another rookie, Reed Sorenson, and veteran Todd Bodine rounding out the top five.

Wallace, who is not expected to return to Bill Davis Racing next season, finished 113 points better than 10th place points finisher David Stremme who was 12th on Saturday.

Busch, Greg Biffle, Ron Hornaday and Mike Bliss trailed Truex, Jr., in the final points standing.
