Dear Valued Customer,
This year has tested the resolve of the American People and shown the world our commitment to Freedom!
Our holiday season this year will have special meaning for thousands of men, women, and children who lost loved ones in the tragedy of September 11th. It will have a different meaning for the millions of people who have lost jobs, incomes, or houses due to the repercussions of this tragedy. While the commercialism and excessive advertising will go forward as in past years, one needs to find time to reflect on the real meaning of this holiday season.
We need to learn to look at things that are generally forgotten.
Holidays, football, turkey, parades, fun with friends and neighbors, and a house filled with excited and jubilant children are reasons enough to be thankful. You look into the kitchen and see all of the dinnertime adornments and begin to understand how turkey, cranberries, and stuffing all work together for you, and you're thankful.
This holiday, we urge you to remember some things that are generally overlooked in the midst of a family celebration.
Think of your freedom, think of your good fortune, think of all of the people who have impacted your life.
Remember your youth (for you will never have it again), and think of ways to help the children of the future to get the best possible start.
Remember the simple things like flying kites and jumping in leaves, tire swings and climbing trees, riding your bike, family walks, long family drives, and family stories that will never be forgotten.
These are the things holidays are made of!
But most of all, remember those less fortunate and strive to make their holiday a time when they can reflect on their own good memories. We at Northeastern will be making special arrangements with local charities and food banks.
We wish you and your family a safe, healthy, and memorable holiday season!
