New Northeastern Facility Offers Plenty of Room to Grow

Northeastern is ramping up the distribution process in their new Central Distribution Center. Now open and fully functional, Northeastern SupplyÕs new facility, located just off Interstate 95 in Edgewood, Maryland, is designed to meet the storage and shipping needs of the company for many years to come.

W"e're making a large investment toward the future. The new facility just about doubles our cubic capacity," explains Steve Cook, President of Northeastern Supply. "The benefits are already evident. We can track every product in every location and we can distribute those products to our branches with a very high degree of accuracy. NortheasternÕs investment in technology includes narrow aisle pick vehicles, which lock on to a guided wire that is buried in the concrete; a two-story conveyor system that scans products and moves them directly to pack lanes for individual branches; and equipment from barcoding.com, Symbol, and Zebra that make the new distribution center a paperless state-of-the-art facility of which we are all very proud. Mike Cornbrooks, Vice President of Operations, has assembled a crew that has been working around the clock to bring improved services to our branch employees and ultimately to our valued customers."

"Our level of service will continue to improve as we resolve any initial growing pains and as we internally identify new opportunities to further enhance our services," says Cornbrooks.

"Because of our close relationship with our customers, we will fine-tune our initial plans to further meet their needs. In the end, our customers will receive more efficient service with very few fulfillment errors," states Cook.
