Progress Continues At Distribution Center
State-of-the-Art Technology
By the end of the summer of 2001, Northeastern’s new 100,000 square foot
distribution center will be fully operational, reports Mike Cornbrooks, Vice
President of Operations.
“The office area is complete and all of the cabling for the telephone and
data lines has been put into place. Throughout the summer, contractors erected
the pallet racking system, the two-story shelved mezzanine, the three-story
pallet flow/carton flow system, the conveyor systems, and the wire guidance
system in the floor that guides the forklifts,” shares Mike.
The warehouse will be operated via warehouse management system software that
is designed for high efficiency and minimal errors. The system tracks incoming
and outgoing product and inventory levels and picks, packs, and stages the
products for loading.
“We hope to be fully operational by late September,” notes Mike. “With the
completion of this facility, Northeastern will have one central distribution
location that will serve all locations throughout Maryland, Pennsylvania,
Delaware, Virginia, and West Virginia.”
