New Commerical Water Heater for Better Performance

Bradford White Corporation's new Commercial Gas-Power Direct Vent water heater utilizes a co-axial (pipe inside a pipe) venting system that draws air from outside the building for combustion. The Power Direct Vent is ideal for commercial applications in which a negative air pressure situation or corrosive air supply is present.

A negative air pressure situation exists in environments such as restaurants, where exhaust fans for kitchen equipment use large amounts of inside air required for combustion. A corrosive air supply occurs in environments such as Laundromats, where the combustible air can be exposed to chlorinated solvents. The chlorinated solvents are extremely harmful to a gas-fired water heater and would require a unit to be isolated from those solvents. Both situations adversely affect the performance of ordinary gas water heaters that use inside air for combustion and can lead to a decrease in hot water, wasted fuel, and other performance and safety problems. By drawing air in from the outside, the Power Direct Vent performs better, increasing the hot water production and reduces potential safety concerns.

The Power Direct Vent can meet an assortment of hot water demands and is available in 80 and 100-gallon capacities with 199,999, 300,000, and 360,000 BTU inputs. It also offers versatile venting capabilities. The Power Direct Vent can be vertically or horizontally vented up to 21 feet and its venting kits are easily installed allowing for multiple venting configurations.

The Power Direct Vent also includes these standard features:

• 1 1/8" non-CFC foam insulation that saves energy by retarding loss of heat

• An electronic ignition system that eliminates the constant burning of the pilot, resulting in savings of gas during stand-by periods

• Vitraglas® lined tank for protection against the corrosive effects of hot water

• A hand hole cleanout for easier serviceability

• Hydrojet® Sediment Reduction System, which is designed to increase first-hour delivery of hot water and prevent sediment build up for longer tank life.
